Brief Introduction

What is Landscape Photography?

Landscape Photography is recognised as three main types:

Representational

This is traditional lansdcape photography.  An image captured outlining the land and sometimes the horizon.  This will be natural and a true picture of what the photographer sees.  Important photography skills will be used when making the photograph, using composition, framing and lighting.

Impressionistic

This style is more of a vague, mysterious, painting effect to the photograph.  The photograph can almost look like a painting. Techniques such as zoom burst, and tilt shift would assist in creating the effect in the photograph below.

Abstract

This type of photography can be more specific to something within the landscape, such as a branch, stone, flower photographed in a less traditional way.  Macro style, whereby the viewer might not recognise straight away what the subject is.
